OH CANADA!
UTTER. DOMINATION.

I don’t think anyone expected such a blowout for a Canada/Russia game, but the Red Machine is rolling!
What a night!

What a night!!
Finally found a team you guys could handle.
In other news the USA shutout their opponents today.
Looking forward to Sunday :).
“The red machine is rolling” – sounds like a communist tag line.
Indeed, it does. I remember the Soviet Red Machine very well—their regular destruction of our amateur teams at the Olympics was a source of great pain for me.
Redemption is a glorious thing!
The only reason it wasn’t 7-3 against the Yanks is Ryan Miller.
He is good and hopefully tomorrow he is better then Miikka.
… and the only reason it wasn’t 7-3 is that it was 5-3 for the Yanks!!
This is Kipper’s only shot at glory this year, and I think he knows it. Watch out USA!
O Canada indeed! I think I am currently the only Olympic City resident here (correct me if I’m wrong).
I have to say, I was an Olympic cynic before the games began. But, the excitement and vibe in the city of Vancouver is unbelievable. I have lived here my entire life, and I have have never experienced anything like right now.
Go Canada — right to the Gold. My biggest concern is that I haven’t been able to breathe for the last 24 hours, and I’m not really anticipating a deep breathe until Sunday afternoon at around 3-ish!
I was a bit cynical before all this began as well, but it’s been riveting stuff. I even (gulp) found myself watching figure skating for a bit today! Sheesh…
Oh, and Bobby Lu for Prime Minister!!
At risk of offending everyone here, I thought I’d share ‘The Hockey Prayer”
Our Father, who art in Canada Hockey Place, hockey be thy name,
thy will be done, GOLD to be WON on ICE as well as IN THE STANDS.
Give us this day, our hockeysticks and forgive us our penalties, as we forgive those who cross check against us.
Lead us not into elimination but deliver us to victory.
In the name of the fans, CANADA and the HOLY PUCK.
AMEN!!
You might appreciate this article, Mike :).
Congrats on the gold medal. unfortunately I didn’t get to see the game. The weather was bad and a flight got postponed until the exact time game started. So I missed the entire thing. I couldn’t have worst luck. Got an update in Uranium city of a score 2 to 1. I heard the final score over 126.7 from Edmonton radio on my way back to Fort Mcmurray. I guess I will have to wait another four years for the USA to have another kick at the can.
Sorry to hear about your travel miseries. That sounds pretty wretched! I have to give the US credit, they played a heck of a game. Probably one of the best games I’ve ever seen, all in all.
(Not sure I would have been saying that if the Stars and Stripes were being hoisted to the rafters, though :)).
